I have mixed feelings about this laptop table. On the positive side, it is fairly easy to use because it clicks (and safely locks) each piece in to place quite easily. It is flexible to virtually any height and shape-need.Veering towards the positive to negative side, the desk seems relatively sturdy most of the time-- though it is a little bouncy in some positions. This is compounded when you have a heavy laptop on it (mine weighs about 8lbs). Tumbleability is also increased if the laptop desk (with a heavy laptop) is placed on a squishy surface, like a bed. This isn't the fault of the desk per say, but it is something to be aware of.On the negative side (for me!), the desk simply doesn't have the surface area I desired. It says it will take a 17" laptop, and mine is a 17.3". Though lots of products seem to say "FOR 17" LAPTOPS!" and then in small print somewhere, they cite the 17.3" size. I sorta was beginning to believe 17.3" is somewhat standard, but who knows. At any rate THIS desk is not quite big enough for my lap top. This compounds the issue of the desk being somewhat jiggly in some positions, as my laptop hangs a skosh off the edge-- by say roughly an inch along the whole front (or back- depending on how you are positioning the desk for your needs). The width is good enough for the laptop, nothing more, which brings up the design flaw in the perforations. While the size cited on the desk is "up to 17"", this desk was clearly designed to be ideal for a much smaller laptop. The perforations only span across 2/3 of the desktop surface.I got this desk to use while sitting in bed to keep my laptop ventilated and off my bed or lap. It does that. It works, but it barely fits my laptop, it doesn't ventilate as well as it could and because it is already too small for my laptop it is even further incompatible with my Targus chill mat (which I like by the way, but which doesn't hold the unit OFF my bed so that it can vent properly since it vents out the bottom). I was hoping this desktop would allow me to really keep my laptop cool with my chill mat, but instead I am sorta wishing I had neither this desk, nor the chill mat, and instead one of the units that works as a desk+chill mat with built in fans. That said I am having troubles finding things that REALLY fit the 17.3" laptops-- skins, covers, bags, laptop desks, etc. Who knows what I would be dealing with if I had the 18+ inch screen! This item is decent. It could be sturdier, as with all the flexibility in shape possibility you have built in flexibility-- which is somewhat the opposite of sturdiness! The desk is also clearly better for a laptop more like a 14-15 inch size or smaller. Saying this is good for up to 17" is kinda like saying I can mash my feet in a size 7 shoe if I am a 7.5. I can, but it is less than ideal.Best of luck to you!I love this thing. I am reading "Deskbound" and fixing my basic body mechanics (too many aches and pains from sitting and bad posture) and this table stand is exactly what I was hoping for. I've already raised my desk, but I was looking for something that I could put on top of it for reading. I also needed something that I could turn any regular desk or table into a standing work station. If it was something I could potentially travel with - even better. Something sturdy, but not a hefty piece. Could work for books or a laptop. And please, it would be nice if it was not ugly and visually simple. This Pwr+ piece is ringing my bell. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it's really working out. Good construction. Pretty lightweight for being metal with solid plastic parts. The lip is way more than I need for my Air, and it holds my copy of Deskbound - which is hard cover, big and thick. The 3 joints allow you to bend and lock at every 5 degree angle - so there's a ton of possibility. Give yourself time to use the guide to put them in different positions - and then you'll get the hang of how much range you have to make this stand work in just about any situation. You can make yourself an ergonomically-correct work desk while reclining in your hotel bed. You can work at another company's desk. Or onsite at another table. Or on your table on your back porch. You can't really get it into a backpack or anything - and it might be too long for most carryon suitcases. But you could definitely get it into a checked-in bag and it wouldn't take up too much space and it's not too heavy. The table part is metal with stamped out holes to keep your computer cool. There's nice grooves to make it not so slippery. Seems to be pretty scratch resistant. The overall design is clean and thoughtfully simple. It's minimalist and has a nice tactile feel. I hope these guys maintain the quality of their products as they get more popular. I think this piece is really nice quality for the price. I'm pretty sure my husband is going to steal this away from me. And - no, I'm not affiliated in any way by Pwr+ - I just like the stand. There's so much crap out there - it's nice to direct people to what's worth their money.
