This shelf was very easy to put together, although you need to be careful to not break off the tabs. It feels like a very dense styrofoam, so it’s not going to hold anything heavy. A few paperback books and other lightweight items would work fine. It’s length is adjustable which is nice. Very pretty though and works well for my purposes.This shelf is adorable and works for exactly what I need. I deducted a star from assembly because it didn’t come with any instructions, although it was pretty basic. Also sturdiness I deducted a star from because I don’t know how well it would hold up around children. It’s not made of wood but rather a composite or sorts. While trying to put it together, one of the tabs started breaking from the pressure. It didn’t impact the finished product and seems to still work okay, but it’s definitely not wood.Love my shelf! So easy to put together! So cute! Looks better than I thought it would!The desk organizer looked nice and looked like painted wood... Until you picked it up! Once you get up close and handle the pieces you soon discover that it is a weird pressed strifome construction! I immediately knew that it the organizer would not withstand the husle and bustle of my work desk. I decided to return it at my local Kholes and as I was walking to the entrance a lady came barraling into me, mearly bumping the organizer causing it to completely break off at the corner! I was so greatful I was returning it, otherwise I would have been stuck with a pretty/cheaply made desk organizer!This thing is cute but not very strong…. Basically is a step above styrofoam. Probably not sturdy enough for books and that’s what I was going to use it for :(This is a great looking little desk-top unit for open storage...........it doesn't invite clutter. I liked it so much that I'm about to order my second one. I received no instructions, but assembly was very easy.CHEAP CHEAP CHEAPPerfect for my book beside my computer.
