It's rare that I purchase an item that exceeds my expectations. Usually the stuff I buy is either what I think it will be or poorer quality, so I feel like this particular desk deserves a review.This desk is solid wood, NOT the cheap pressed board veneered junk that you find everywhere these days. It is quite sturdy and well constructed. I wouldn't try to put an elephant on it but I loaded it up pretty good with books, computers, a lamp, and other miscellaneous office clutter and it's definitely solid construction.It comes in three parts: The top is one fully assembled piece (including the drawer) and the legs come in a separate package, as do the cross brace pieces.Something that really surprised me was that the drawer has several non-adjustable compartments (one large one in the back and three smaller ones in front) and is lined with green velvet. It may put some people off that the drawer has these compartments but I liked it. If I had one complaint about the desk, though, it's that the drawer cannot be pulled all the way out. It only comes out about a foot and then stops, even though the drawer itself is nearly 2 feet deep. There's enough room to get in there fairly easily but I still might play around with it to get the drawer to come out to its full depth.In all, I was very surprised at the good quality of this desk and the neat little things that you don't see in the pictures (the green velvet desk drawer is REALLY nice IMHO). Construction only took about 30 minutes and as an added bonus, my cat is thoroughly enjoying playing in the box that the desk came in.I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.
